BYOND: EXCLUSIVE HEALTH SOLUTION FOR CANADIAN NHL ALUMNI
Built for alumni who are used to a different level of support, BYOND is a proactive health solution curated by the NHLAA. It combines advanced annual health assessments and leading private clinic access in Canada with coordinated diagnostics, treatment navigation, and access to the finest private care in the U.S. or elsewhere when needed — delivering faster answers, clearer next steps, and a more complete standard of care.
BYOND Executive Health Program
The BYOND Executive Health Program is available to the NHL Alumni Association to help eligible members access the highest standard of proactive, private healthcare - similar to the level of care many experienced during their playing careers.
This program is designed for Alumni who are still active in the workforce and want to stay ahead of health issues, move quickly when something new arises, and have support navigating complex care decisions.
BYOND focuses on early detection, fast diagnostics, and access to private care, helping members protect their health, performance, and longevity - at a stage of life when timing and access matter most.
This is not traditional insurance. It’s a comprehensive executive health experience - built around prevention, speed, and choice.
The program begins with a comprehensive Annual Health Assessment at your choice of leading executive health clinics, including Medcan, TELUS Health, the Cleveland Clinic, and others across the country.
This assessment establishes a detailed health baseline and helps identify risks early, supported by ongoing, year-round medical access for members and eligible dependents.
A dedicated Wellness Bundle of advanced testing, tools, and resources further supports proactive health management throughout the year.
BYOND offers express CT and MRI access for members and eligible dependents when new health issues arise—dramatically reducing the time it takes to get answers.
Once results are available, members can access medical expert reviews and second opinions, helping confirm diagnoses, assess options, and determine the most appropriate path forward.
By combining fast imaging with expert medical insight, the program removes uncertainty at a critical moment—so decisions about care can move forward with confidence, not waiting lists.
If a health issue arises, BYOND steps in with $1 million per year in private medical coverage (or $500,000 per year for members over age 70) to access the finest medical care available anywhere.
This coverage can enable private treatment outside Canada – including at leading U.S. medical facilities – helping ensure speed, choice, and quality of care when a health issue arises and timing is critical.
An executive level medical travel benefit supports the logistics of accessing care, along with a budget for travel expenses.
